Can credit repair companies be trusted?

Many "credit repair" companies claim to remove negative credit with the flick of a wrist. Their advertisements make bold assertions and money-back guarantees: "Bankruptcy, tax liens, judgments... no problem!! One hundred percent guaranteed!! Credit report 100% cleared in 30 days!!" Can they really make such sweeping guarantees?

While some credit repair companies are outright frauds, others are not fraudulent and they use the dispute process to obtain impressive results. In fact, they delete thousands of negative credit listings every day. There is a company called, Lexington Law who has been doing it for 15 years. Click Here to learn more.

Unfortunately, it is risky to trust anyone to help you restore your credit. It is estimated that fraudulent credit repair companies have bilked Americans out of more than fifty million dollars. The majority of credit repair companies were started by entrepreneurs with a penchant for marketing. Consumers have flocked to these "credit doctors" only to discover that their advertisements proved far more impressive than their results. Hiring a credit repair company is like playing Russian roulette. Many of them are effective and legitimate, but it is difficult to tell a rip-off from the real article.

So, can credit repair companies guarantee results?

Not a chance! No credit repair company is so good that it can guarantee a specific outcome. It would be like a defense lawyer guaranteeing that the jury will find his client innocent. Guarantees are a sure sign of credit repair fraud. A warranty, where the credit repair company promises a refund if certain results don't occur, is a better, more realistic claim. Lexington Law is a respectable company that we recommend.

Not surprisingly, the credit bureaus have declared war against the credit repair companies and those selling instruction on how to do-it-yourself. The bureaus lambaste credit repair companies in the media and send anti-credit repair literature to anyone whom they suspect of using credit repair services. The bureaus unflinchingly deny that accurate information can be removed from a credit report.

The simple truth is that you do not have to endure bad credit for seven to ten years as long as you feel comfortable challenging the accuracy or verifiability of your credit listings. If so, it is possible to restore creditworthiness within a much shorter time.

However you decide to address your credit challenges, realize that regardless of what you may hear in the news media, thousands before you have sought help and restored their credit. They can show you their homes, cars, and credit cards. Despite the newspaper articles, TV reports, and other credit bureau propaganda to the contrary, the simple truth remains: you can restore your credit. Learn More.

The three main credit bureaus are: TransUnion, Experian and Equifax. Lenders judge your credit worthiness using the FICO scoring system. Your FICO score is calculate with information from these credit bureaus by using the amount you owe on non-mortgage-related accounts such as credit cards, your payment history, and your credit history. The FICO score ranges from 300 to 850. The higher your FICO score, the lower your interest rate will be. Since it’s possible the information from the credit bureaus is inaccurate, it is very important you check your credit report on a regular basis. Since a high FICO score can save you thousands of dollars on your home mortgage or car loan, it is very important that you repair your credit immediately if your FICO score is below 680.

Nestled along the naturally scenic settings of the Mississippi River, Saint Paul boasts an ethnically diverse population with restaurants, cultural recreation, and shopping venues for everyone. Unlike many other cities, Saint Paul is an unusually charming city of neighborhoods, each offering interesting places to explore. Originally an odd mix of Indians, European explorers, and American soldiers from Fort Snelling lived in close proximity, attracted by the river’s luxuries of trade and transportation. Fort Snelling State Park commemorates such a history, and includes Pike Island, named for the famed explorer Zebulon Pike. Today the area is festooned with small liberal arts colleges like Concordia University, creating the close community feel while still providing the amenities of an urban city. Saint Paul proudly recognizes two of its favorite sons, renowned author F. Scott Fitzgerald and Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, by displaying giant Peanut sculptures around the city and hosting events celebrating the Snoopy family. Hot spots like the Artists’ Quarter, a well-known downtown jazz club, the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, and O’Garas, an Irish pub with live shows showcase the artsy community. Saint Paul locals will be quick to name Grand Avenue as the best place to shop and dine, with popular boutiques and amazing eateries like Dunn Brother’s Coffee and the premier bakery Breadsmith. Just around the corner, the Cathedral Hill area is home to the Saint Paul Curling Club, the largest member-owned club in the United States. With over 160 parks, three pristine golf courses, the Como Park Zoo, and a public beach, there is limitless fun for outdoor enthusiasts. The St. Paul community works together to protect their natural resources with environmental programs like Care For A Park and popular Earth Day events. Get to know Saint Paul’s history, appreciate renowned artwork, and bring the powerful gift of performing arts to your family and friends by visiting excellent venues like the Science Museum of Minnesota, Children’s Museum, and annual Flint Hills International Children’s Festival. Saint Paul certainly provides for the avid shopper! Bloomington’s Mall of America boasts over five hundred stores, and with an indoor amusement park as well, it does not disappoint. Perhaps catching a baseball game by the Northern League Champions the Saint Paul Saints is more your style; if so, Midway Stadium is the place to be. The nearby Xcel Energy Center hosts the Minnesota Swarm lacrosse team and Minnesota Wild Ice Hockey for sports fans as well. With so many interesting places to visit, the light rail transit system provides for convenient sightseeing, and the downtown area is connected by a skyway system for easy pedestrian travel. Saint Paul is quieter and more conservative than its Twin City Minneapolis, but there is no better place to spend a day with the family, a night out on the town, or simply soaking up the sun on a peaceful afternoon in one of the many scenic parks- whatever you are looking for, Saint Paul is the perfect place to be.
